The Great Ice Storm of 2007

WHEW! This has been a long time coming. Well, as many of you know, my mommy and daddy and I have not had any power at our house for seven days -- since last Friday night. Three big ice storms came through Springfield last Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We lost power on Friday night at about 8 pm. That was a scary night -- at least that's what my daddy told me. He also told me he's a bit of a scaredy cat. My daddy says that all night long last Friday night the ice caused branches on the trees to break and they fell in our yard and on our house. The ice also caused power lines to break and transformers to blow up, making really pretty fireworks (my words, not his). Anyway, my daddy said he was so scared that he only slept one hour that night. Not me -- I slept for 12 straight hours -- all the way through the storm.

My daddy took a few pictures of the damage the ice storm caused to our yard.

All night long daddy kept the fire burning. When I got up, daddy and mommy put me in my bumbo seat in front of the fire so I would be warm!

After the first night, my daddy and mommy took me to Gigi and Granddad Cash's house. We had so much fun. The power went out there too, and we made a big fire in the fireplace and had hot chocolate and roasted marshmellows. Well -- they did. I ate milk. That's what I always eat. But I smelled the hot chocolate and marshmellows. Daddy said something about it being "fancy camping."

On Sunday, my mommy and I read her book. It was lots of fun.

On Monday, my great-uncle Phil and my cousin Aaron came up from Harrison to help clean up the yard. They brought chain saws. They told me that when I get big, they will teach me how to use a chain saw. I can't wait. Phil and Aaron led the clean up crew, and they were assisted by my daddy, my Gigi, my babysitter Brittany, and her boyfriend Blake. Thank you to everyone who helped clean up my yard.

Anyways, it has been a very eventful week. It could still be a few days or even a week until we have power. So I guess we will stay at Gigi's and hope we don't have to do any more "fancy camping."

A Cash Family Christmas

I know it has taken me a while, but I thought I would share a few pictures of the Cash family Christmas experience. Below is a picture of me with my Grandad (my great-grandpa Cash). He and my Nanny live in Harrison, Arkansas. We went down on the night before Christmas eve. We had a big dinner at my great-aunt Connie's house (I had my dinner in the basement while everyone else ate upstairs) and I spent the night in my pack and play in my Great-grandparents' basement. I stayed in my Grandpa Cash's old room -- it had two bear skins in it. Those are the first bear skins I have ever seen.

We went back to Springfield for Christmas Eve. Before the Christmas Eve service (yes, I got to stay up late and wear my fancy outfit), we took a few family pictures. Here I am with my favorite girls (My Aunt Tara, my mommy, my grandma Cash, and Bird.

We came over early on Christmas and I stayed awake while everyone opened their stockings. Here is a picture of me and my Grandma Cash on Christmas morning.

Even though I wasn't awake when they opened the presents, I heard that I got the best present -- here is a picture -- it is a puppet with arms that wrap around you. I can't wait to play with it!!!!!

I promise I will write again soon -- I'll show you a few pictures of a Satterwhite family Christmas.
